沖縄

[Distress call 2]

I made an encrypted call to V that night. It was his early morning.
“Tell me,” he said.
“I’m gonna do it. I want you to tell mom it was all her fault and she signed my death warrant. Verbatim.”
“Hmm… sure,” he replied, I could hear him hitting the keys on his mechanical keyboard.
“‘It was all your fault. You signed my death warrant.’”
“That’s right.”
There was a brief silence. Then he spoke again.
“You know she’s just gonna ask me to call an exorcist, right?”
He sounded somewhat defeated.
“No amount of exorcism will save anyone when I come back to haunt her. Make sure to tell her that too,” I said.
“Anything you say…” there was more typing from his end, “speaking of which… you coming to Okinawa?”
“What? When?”
He mumbled a date in the distant future.
“It’s a long way to go just to see you. I could be dead tomorrow and we all know why.”
“But… Okinawa, ” he insisted gently.
I was at a complete loss for words.
“Just… think about it,” he said, then he hung up.
